Froggy Bottom Acoustic Guitar – Concert Body with Soft Cutaway and Koa Body
Froggy Bottom Guitars are hand crafted by Michael Millard and a few close friends up in Vermont. They only make about 100 instruments a year, but oh what guitars! If you have not heard of Froggy Bottom it is not surprising since you will not see one in your typical Music Super Store or Guitar center. Once purchased, they are rarely traded, and more likely inherited as a family heirloom.
This particular guitar is what they call a MK-Std. Koa because of the amazing flamed Koa used on the body and Std because it has few adornments with the exception of the Pearl frog inlay in the head stock that is the company trade mark. In fact this guitar is the most standard of all the guitars I own for myself. There is no purfling or inlay in the neck short of the basic dots. It is just a fine instrument made from some exceptional material by a very talented people who love what they are doing.
Once you look at the photos below you may disagree with the term standard for this guitar. Any instrument with Flamed Koa like this guitar has does not need anything else. The tone and volume from this small concert sized instrument is exceptional. The intonation is perfect and sound is extremely balanced with even mid ranges and good bass. This may be the perfect guitar for finger picking styles, but I love it for all round enjoyment. Trust me I have lots of guitars but this one is always out of the case and ready to go.
