The Breedlove Phoenix is normally built upon the C10 body shape - a shallow bodied (4 1/16") concert-sized guitar without a cutaway. The Phoenix is one of my favorite models, and so a few months ago, I decided I'd like to find out what would be like to have the same guitar in a C15 format (shallow body, soft cutaway.) Here is the result.
The Phoenix is built with some of the most phenomenal woods available, resulting in an instrument that is a superb choice for fingerstyle players as well as light strummers. The dark, mysterious tone of the Phoenix comes from the sublime combination of a Redwood top and Ziricote back and sides. It's an incredibly responsive guitar, with a deep bass character that is powerful but not overbearing. The overall tone is rich and warm, and harmonically complex.
The inlay and rosette are particularly striking on this Phoenix - lots of green and pink hues in the Abalone.
Includes Breedlove deluxe hardshell case.
