Abyss Custom Guitars – Single Cutaway - Green Vines Model

If you have read Premier Guitar magazine lately you have heard of Abyss Custom Guitars and remember the stunningly original instruments that graced the cover. If you have not this is a very talented guitar designer that I like a lot. He only makes a few guitars a year but one look at the adjoining photos and you can see why I am so excited.

This instrument is a single cut solid body design with flair. For instance the cut away is deeper than most designs giving you easy access to the highest frets unlike most single cut designs. This is a neck through design with the body and neck all in Black Limba or Korina. The top is highly figured Flame Maple with Flamed Maple Bindings on the body, neck and head stock.

The unique Green color is off set with Gold hardware including Gotoh 510 Tuners and a Tone Pros bridge. The Pick-ups are Seymour Duncan’s with a JB at the bridge and a 59 at the neck, a classic combination with great sound. The tone knobs are jeweled in green to match the top.

The fretboard is ebony with a Green Vines inlay that runs the length of the neck onto the head stock. The Vines are made from Koa and the leaves are Mother of Pearl and Abalone. The leaves of the vine are used to mark the fret positions and hand selected for their green color to match the top’s color.
This guitar has virtually no neck heal with its through neck design further adds to the ease of access to the upper registers. The neck’s action is like lightning.
