Carl Martin
The Carl Martin AC-Tone is the natural successor to the successful Plexitone, where the Plexitone is a tribute to the well known Marshall “Plexi, is the AC-Tone a tribute to another British legend with its less “boomy” low end and characteristic mid’s, a tone used by legendary guitarist over the years, and a tone that is again popular as ever.

The Carl Martin Chorus xII is a dual stereo chorus foot pedal Designed by Canadian electronic wizard Daniel Van Kranendonk, the unit is the result of five years of careful research and development. It has two identical but independent sets of speed and depth controls. Each “chorus” has an LED indicator that lights up when in use and also flashes an indication of the speed setting. It has a stereo output via two quarter inch jacks. The “on” switch allows you to engage or bypass the chorus. The “select” switch allows you to switch between the two chorus settings mid song or mid set without having to get down on your knees to alter the controls.

The Carl Martin Chorus xII is the perfect choice for guitar, bass or keyboards. It is unbelievably rich in sound, totally quiet, and most important of all, does not change the basic sound.

Inspired by the old vintage chorus/vibrato effects, The Carl Martin Classic Chorus offers both clean chorus and a vibrato/chorus sound. With the level, depth, speed and rate controls those classic tones are easy to achieve. Great vintage style and color in a heavy die cast, 9 volt pedal with heavy duty bypass switching.

The Carl Martin Combinator 2 was designed and developed in response to many requests from guitar players who use lots of effects pedals, but are frustrated by having to press several footswitches in order to turn multiple pedals on and off.

The Carl Martin Compressor/Limiter has been specifically developed to incorporate the same features and sonic clarity found in high quality professional studio compressors. To achieve this we incorporated a variable threshold, variable compression ratio, variable attack and release controls and of course, a gain level.

HARMONY CENTRAL USER REVIEW: 03/03/2007
"The controls are laid out nicely and give you an incredibly wide range of compression settings. It sounds better than any other compressor I've ever used on my guitar. With the response knob, you can preserve the sound of your pick attack on each note, so the tone of your notes does not suffer."

The Carl Martin Contour & Boost is especially designed to boost up, and change the sound (contour) of electric guitar/bass. The Carl Martin Contour & Boost circuitry is of phase linear design, using high quality components. This ensures sonic clarity and midrange emphasis which is so important for electric guitar. The Carl Martin Contour & Boost is designed as a High Pass (low cut) and Low Pass (high cut) filter, with a fixed X-over frequency at 440Hz. The High Pass filter operates from 65Hz to 440Hz, and the Low Pass filter from 440Hz to 8KHz. Both filters are individually sweepable, with a boost range of up to 12db. With these filters it is possible to change the sound (contour) in any way your creativity allows you.The Carl Martin Contour & Boost has a built in, regulated (+- 12V) power supply which enables us to design circuitry of the highest quality with maximum headroom. Please note that when using this unit with other effect devices, always place the Contour & Boost after any distortion units, otherwise the distortion unit will limit what you can achieve with the Contour & Boost.

The Carl Martin Crush Zone is a vintage style high-gain/distortion pedal. It provides everything from a slight edge to your tone, to mind-blowing distortion. Crush Zone is housed in a heavy die cast case with 9 volt battery compartment and heavy duty bypass switching.

The Carl Martin DeLayla was designed and developed with one goal in mind: To create a superior analog delay pedal, incorporating some of the same features used in vintage tape delay units. To achieve this, we have incorporated a second delay tap (similar to using two heads simultaneously on a tape delay). The TAP footswitch is used to turn the second tap on or off. The TAP knob controls the mix of main delay vs. second tap delay. Clockwise movement favors the second tap; counter clockwise favors the main delay.

The Carl Martin DeLayla also features a built in regulated (+- 12V) power supply. The result is a warm, smooth sound reminiscent of the vintage tape units used in the 1950’s and 60’s.

The Carl Martin DeLayla XL is designed and developed with one goal in mind: To create a superior delay pedal, with the same conic quality as the original DeLayla but with new extended features, yet incorporating some of the same features used in vintage tape delay units. To achieve this, we have incorporated a second delay head (slap back) (similar to using two heads simultaneously on a tape delay). The SLAPBACK footswitch is used to turn the second delay head on or off. The SLAPBACK knob controls the mix of main delay vs. second delay head. Clockwise movement favors the second delay head; counter clockwise favors the main delay. The SB-TRIM knob fine tunes the second delay head’s time setting compared to the original delay head, by this it’s possible to create different patterns, going from strict slap back to way off beat. The TEMPO tap is a real tempo learn function, allowing you to foot tap the delay tie to match the right beat of the song.

The anniversary Carl Martin Hot Drive’n Boost MK3, featuring a complete new overdrive design that gives an even more authentic “tube” simulating overdrive than the original HDB, which is known to be one of the best.

The Carl Martin Hot Drive’n Boost MKII has been carefully designed to imitate the sound of a good old-fashion distorting Tube amp. It is similar to the Carl Martin Got Drive’n Boost but has a rougher and deeper sound. With the BOOST feature the Carl Martin Hot Drive’n Boost MKII is a “TWO in ONE” pedal. That allows you to get that extra “kick” (up to 20db) for solos to really stand out.

HARMONY CENTRAL USER REVIEW: 11/16/2003
"It’s perfect for blues and rock - but also hard rock. The price may seem a lot, but this is a solid two-in-one pedal. It works - and it sounds great - at all times. I'd definitely recommend this as THE ONE distortion pedal, at an affordable cost, that has it all. Even if I had to mortgage my soul to get the money, I'd do it if this was stolen."

The Carl Martin Hot Drive’n Boost has been carefully designed to imitate the sound of a good old-fashion distorting Tube Amp. The Carl Martin Hot Drive’n Boost is the perfect choice for that crunchy blues tone, with plenty left over for a great hard rock tone as well. With the BOOST feature the Carl Martin Hot Drive’n Boost is a “TWO in ONE” pedal. That allows you to get that extra “kick” (up to 20db) for solos to really stand out.

One of the most natural sounding and usable distortion pedals we have tried.

The Carl Martin Hydra Boost with its small size and simple design offers a clean 15db low noise boost. Imagine your solo with an extra few db’s on top to get it out where it belongs, or maybe boost the input on your amp to get more sustain and bite, or simply drive your distortion pedals with extreme input for extraordinary distortion. It features a low noise design, 9V battery adapter, rugged housing, Vintage knobs, and a High bright blue LED.

HARMONY CENTRAL USER REVIEW: 01/24/2006
"Good simple booster, sounds well both in overdriven and clean applications."

Over the years, we have seen a constant interest in loop systems like the Carl Martin Combinator II and have decided that it is now time to introduce the little sister to the Combinator II. The Carl Martin Octa-Switch is cheaper and simpler, yet just as versatile and road-worthy as the Combinator II.

The Carl Martin PlexiTone is as the name might indicate an unusual high gain three step rocket of an overdrive. The PlexiTone offers two step overdrive, the crunch channel and the high gain channel, on top of that it gives you an up to 20db clean boost channel. The crunch channel goes from subtle overdrive to hard rock gain stage, the high gain channel goes from rock gain stages to absolutely meltdown with loads of gain and low end, and all in a tone that brings the memory back to the early 80’s high gain guitar hero’s. The PlexiTone has like most Carl Martin pedals a built in regulated 2 x 12V power supply, to secure the necessary headroom that gives you the great tone.

With classic guitar tone disappearing down the road of digital modeling amps and effects, Carl Martin is proud to introduce the Carl Martin Quattro…four of the most popular Carl Martin effects in one package. The Quattro begins with Carl Martin’s award winning Compressor/Limiter circuit with single controls for compression and level. The two-Channel Overdrive has switches for on-off, and for selecting between the crunch and high-gain stages, and controls for tone and level. In classic fashion, the Chorus has a speed and a depth control. Finally, the vintage style Echo has control for level, tone, repeat, and tap-tremolo, as well as an on-off switch. No hard to read screens, no menus to scroll through, just set-up and play. There is no simpler multi-effect on the market! There is also an effects loop built in between the overdrive and tremolo effects for that special drive or fuzz pedal that is part of your sound.

Based on the infamous Carl Martin DeLayla, the Red Repeat provides an affordable 600 milliseconds pf delay, just like an old analog delay. Great vintage style and color in a heavy die cast, 9 volt pedal with heavy duty bypass switching.

Remember the great tremolo tones of the 50’s and 60’s? The Carl Martin “Surf Trem” gets its’ tremolo circuit from the Carl Martin Tremovibe. With just a “speed” and “depth” control (just like our old tube amp) those classic tones are easy to achieve. The retro heavy die cast case with 9 volt battery compartment makes the “Surf Trem” a must have in every pedal box.

The Carl Martin The Fuzz sets new standards for distortion, with its revolutionary wave guide. By using the wave guide’s deep and high controls, in conjunction with the 3 band EQ, it is possible to clean up the distortion and shape the sound in any way needed, thus making it possible to achieve sounds ranging from an old blues fuzz, over a mid 80’s hard rock tone, to a hard core metal sound.

GUITAR MAGAZINE (UK) March 2000
"At the top end comes Carl Martin and, for once, the extra money is fully justified. The added dimension offered by its massive EQ allowance means this isn’t the most straightforward of units to get accustomed to, but its surely the most flexible, an all-encompassing fuzz unit."

The Carl Martin TremO’vibe is an analog “two in one” effect pedal consisting of a tremolo and a real vibrato, both with independent sets of speed and depth controls. The tremolo effect works like a change in volume. The vibrato, which works like a change in tone (pitch modulation), is carefully designed to imitate the real sound of a real tube vibrato. Featuring two switches, the “on” switch allows you to engage or bypass the unit. The “select” switch allows you to switch between Tremolo and Vibrato.

REVIEWS & USER COMMENTS:
GUITARIST (UK): December 1998
"I would expect the pedal to sound good, but not quite this good! The warmth and smoothness of both effects is simply second to none, while the bypass function is quiet as a church mouse who has just spotted a cat."

The Carl Martin Two Faze is a dual vintage phase shift foot pedal. It was designed by Holm Malmquist to combine the old vintage style phase shifting with the modern technology’s advantages in improved quality in sound and headroom performance. It has two identical but independent sets of speed controls. Each “Phase shifter” has an LED indicator that lights up when in use and also flashes as an indication of the speed setting.

The Carl Martin Two Faze has a mono input/output via quarter inch jacks. The “on” switch allows you to engage or bypass the Two Faze. The “select” switch allows you to switch between the two Phase settings mid song or mid set without having to get down on your knees to alter the controls.

Heavy Electronics Guitar Effects Pedals

Ascend

The Heavy Electronics Ascend is a refined one knob clean boost. Discrete analog design allows this exquisite boost to be balanced and true. Wonderfully transparent and clear, yet powerful. Drives reverb tanks beautifully with its strong and concise low end. At the extreme push can even be used to drive tube amplifiers into distortion, allowing the pedal (and your guitar) to speak through the voice of the amp in a new way.

Red Eyes

The Heavy Electronics Red Eyes overdrive represents a new versatility within the world of overdrive. Level and Gain controls as expected, matched with an impeccable 6-way voicing switch that allows you to finally sit in the sweet spot for your guitar and amp. This simple and effective switch has endless applications from cleaning up muddy humbuckers to adding fat to single-coils.

Grind Fuzz

Finally, a fuzz that maintains note definition. This discrete fuzz hybrid by Heavy Electronics creates a lovely result that boasts plenty of fuzz and sustain but allows tighter definition of chords and arpeggios. Its clarity allows the Grind Fuzz to approach so many applications where fuzz never made sense before.

Hwy 77

A set it and forget it distortion rock box. Hwy-77 is designed to simply feed thick and meaty distortion into your amp. Simple in function, Level and Gain controls are sensitive and accentuate what playing style. Bright switch provides for more variation and forces the tone to tighten up on low end rock.

Radio Havana

Radio Havana breaks all the rules and provides a tone thats reminiscent of a small transistor radio. Tinny with washed frequencies. This discrete engineered pedal loves to find the odd frequencies and push them to the forefront. Gain knob not only delivers overdrive but increases interactivity between frequencies, sometimes allowing notes to oscillate between each-other.

Keeley
Robert Keeley True Bypass Looper:
This is an incredibly small true-bypass looper box from Keeley Electronics! This little wonder is only 1 inch wide and 3 inches tall. This will fit in the tightest of pedal boards and offer you a dramatic improvement in tone. Connect any effect to this unit that is "old school" and not true-bypass. In particular Vintage wahs, echos, phasers, fuzz face type pedals, etc. or even new effects that might have a weak bypass system. These elderly effects rob tone when they are off. You can make them truly bypassed when off now with this little box. It works with or without power. When you add a DC supply to this unit the two LED let you know if the loop is active or not. BLUE LED indicates your signal is passing through the vintage effect, RED LED indicates true-bypass.

REVIEWS & USER COMMENTS:
HARMONY CENTRAL USER REVIEW 10/13/2003:
"It’s a true bypass box and it does what it says it does with ease and beautiful simplicity. No noise, no popping. Use good cable, and less of it in between effects and you'll get less noise and more tone. It gets a 10. No noise, so it’s a top product."

Robert Keeley Compressor:
Better than a Ross Compressor clone, the Keeley Compressor is a true audiophile and studio grade compressor that sounds incredible!

The Keeley Compressor effect has nothing but tone tested components and has TRUE BYPASS switching. Effect switching incorporates a triple pole-double throw switch so that you'll have clean unaffected sound when in the bypass mode AND an LED for effect indication. Metal film resistors and capacitors ensure the cleanest compressor on the market. Hand matched transistors (to less than 1% tolerance) ensure you get a perfectly compressed signal with no chance for unwanted distortion. For those wanting a better tone than that of Trey Anastasio from Phish or David Gilmore of Pink Floyd or the Edge of U2 this is it! Nashville/Country guys: you don't know what you're missing. Toss that old red Dyna Comp and stay one step better than the other guy's tone! The TOP Studio Guitar Player in Japan, Masaki Matsubara, uses a Keeley Compressor! The Top studio guitar player of Puerto Rico uses a Keeley Compressor.

Robert Keeley Fuzz Head:
Designed to work like Fuzz Face pedals that many players use as a LEAD BOOST. A Fuzz Face can be muddy, lacking note definition, too bassy, and lacking sustain. An overdrive can be not enough or too smooth. In contrast Keeley's design is transparent, has a better frequency response, and gives you that cutting edge for lead breaks.

HARMONY CENTRAL USER REVIEW: 12/04/2007
"This is a great pedal. I'm really surprised at how much fun and how great it really sounds. I bought four distortion/fuzzes around the same time as this one (with the idea that I'd be keeping all of them. Interestingly enough, out of the four boxes I bought, this one is my favorite! It just does what I wanted the others to do, but better! It has the fuzz tone (actually THE tone) that I was hearing in my head for this new band, but BETTER! I didn't think I could get as much thick, meaty, fuzzy tone as I could with this pedal, without losing note separation. I'm very impressed, VERY impressed. I will defiantly buy another one if I lost it."

Robert Keeley Java Boost:
Looking for the Ultimate in Boosters? The Perfect Boost for your main overdrive pedal? From Surf to FUZZ...the best cutting and biting tone from a pedal!

The Java Boost is NOT AT ALL related to the TS9 or Blues Driver, OR ANY distortion or overdrive pedal. Boss or Ibanez don't make anything like it! It is a Treble Booster by design, not a typical overdrive or distortion pedal. That means, the higher the note played, the more it gets amplified... and then, by your amp, distorted. Bass Notes get Cut in two of the modes on the java boost!

It is critical to use this pedal with the amp set to a bit of overdrive or clipping already to get a great sound from this pedal. For example, setting the java boost in front of a very clean amp with the volume on 1-2 will surely result in a horrible guitar tone.

Keeley Katana:
The Keeley Katana is a cutting pre-amp. It delivers a wealth of tone and clean boosting. Want to keep your original tone with just a dash of sparkle and shimmer added, then have the control to boost it to any volume? This is it. The Katana is a fat, harmonically rich boost. Use it all the time to push your amp harder, or as an occasional boost to cut through the mix.

Two Modes:
  1. Pure Clean: With the Speedo knob pushed in, think of it as a volume control that goes to 20.
  2. High Gain: With the Speedo knob pulled out, it's a cutting boost with a bit of gain. Not quite an overdrive, just some grit and edge to the tone. In this mode you get a cutting shimmer added to your tone. Perfect for Humbucker Guitars!

Keeley Time Machine Boost:
The Legendary Tones Time Machine Boost™ has a wide range of uses. Use the Time Machine Boost to further overdrive your tube amplifier into more harmonically rich distortion or as a preamp to strengthen the output signal of your guitar's pickups. Its two foot switchable channels with independent volume levels provide further dynamics, tone shaping, and versatility.

Visual Sound

Visual Sound Double Trouble Overdrive pedal:

Stevie Ray Vaughn was one of a kind…get his tone with Double Trouble.

Everyone loves the Visual Sound overdrive channel in the Jekyll & Hyde and Route 66 pedals. It is designed to accurately reproduce the sound of the TS-808 Tube-screamer, but with a Bass Boost switch and far more output volume than the original. Over the years, we have had many requests to put two of these overdrives into one pedal, allowing for two different settings and the ability to use them together…like the famous guitarist from Austin use to do. It has all the advantages of V2 Series construction plus the addition of an innovative noise reduction system.

Visual Sounds H2O Liquid Chorus & Echo:

Warm! Liquid! Lush! The new V2 Series H2O gives the same great tone guitarist have come to love over the years. Chorus, Echo, or both…use each channel by itself or combine them just as you would two separate pedals! The Chorus channel is a wonderfully voiced effect for electric, acoustic, or bass guitar, using pure analog circuitry. At the heart of the Chorus circuit are custom designed Visual Sound “bucket brigade” chips. Use the Norm/Lush switch to set the overall style of Chorus and the user-friendly knobs for the settings. The Echo channel is a hybrid digital and analog circuit for the best of both worlds…long delay times with warm, natural repeats. There is even a second (non-effected) output jack for stereo amplifier setups.

Visual Sounds Jekyll & Hyde Overdrive and Distortion Pedal:

The new V2 Series gives the same great tone guitarist have come to love plus an added noise reduction system. Each channel has separate controls, but with the ability to use them individually or together. The Jekyll overdrive channel accurately reproduces the sound of the TS-808 Tube-screamer, but with a Bass Boost switch and far more output volume than the original. Hyde is more than just a turbo version of Jekyll. With heavier distortion and more bottom end, it is extremely versatile. From Blues to Metal and everything in between, Jekyll & Hyde delivers.

The New and Improved Route 66 from Visual Sound:

In 1999 Visual Sound made the statement “Our Route 66 is sure to become as legendary as its namesake.” With countless great guitarists using it ever since, the Route 66 from Visual Sound has become just that…a legend! Now the all new V2 Series Route 66 gives the same great tone guitarists have come to love, plus an added noise reduction system that gives you that quiet ride you’ve always wanted. Classic compression combined with Classic Overdrive – these two effects sound great on their own, but combine them together and get the ultimate compliment to one another in one pedal. New housing, new stomp switches designed by Bob Weil himself – and an all new, noise-free experience – this version of the Route 66 has raised the bar for years to come.
