I've said it before... and I'm saying it again. In my humble opinion, shallow-body
Concert-size Breedloves are possibly the most distinctive guitars in the Breedlove
line. This distinction starts with the sound (as it should). These guitars
put out such a strong, complex, rich tone for their size that it can be startling.
This gorgeous Breedlove C12 sports an Engelmann Spruce Top, with Quilted Maple
Back/Sides, a Rock Maple Neck, and upgraded Schaller tuners. The Ebony fretboard
is adorned with Kim Breedlove's "Wings" Inlay, and a beautiful Master
Class Rosewood binding. This guitar is quintessential Breedlove, with the
visually striking sharp cutaway, the complex, responsive tone of a shallow-body
Breedlove, and the superb string-to-string balance and clarity of tone of
Maple. One of the most desirable characteristics of Maple is actually the
fact that it
doesn't contribute as much tonal reinforcement to top
vibration as other woods, such as Rosewood or Mahogany. Instead, it lets the
tonal quality of the top come singing through, and in this case, the Engelmann
spruce top on this guitar takes that job and runs with it.
This is one instrument that would be haunting your thoughts if you'd found
it in a store over the weekend and walked out without it.This guitar spent
a short time at a dealer showroom, but you'd never know by looking at it -
it is in pristine condition. Due to Breedlove's strict policy about what constitutes
a brand new instrment, however, it cannot go back out to a dealer to be sold
as new.
