Breedlove SC25 Left-handed model - nicely outfitted with ivoroid binding and
upgraded top purfling, bone nut and saddle.
During bending of the side wood, a small (about 1.5" long) split occured
in the wood on the treble side of this instrument, just south of the horn
of the cutaway. This is not uncommon, and usually a simple repair can be made
that does not show cosmetically. In this case, a repair was done, but the
split can still be seen as a small hairline mark in the side of the guitar.
It's incredibly subtle - unless I pointed it out to you and explained it,
you'd would probably think it to be a natural variation in the wood. The fact
that Breedlove opted not to release this instrument into the retail channel
at full list price is testament to the stringent standards to which they hold
all of their instruments.
This SC25 received a lot of attention during set-up and final inspection by
one of Breedlove's best techs, who also happens to be left-handed. While I
myself cannot do much at all on a left-handed instrument, strumming this guitar
in open position shows it to have a rich, resonant tone. There is a tailpin
jack installed on this guitar, but no pick-up is included.
