Flatpicker's heaven... here's a mint condition Breedlove Dreadnought with
some top-notch appointments. This guitar has a fiddleback Maple back with
flamed Maple sides (all with an aged toner stain) and a Western Red Cedar
top. This combination gives it a rounded, powerful tone. These woods are complemented
by a total Master Class Package...Rosewood Binding, Bone Nut and Saddle, and
Schaller tuners.
Breedlove opted not to release this instrument through normal retail channels
because a fret file dinged the binding during set-up of the instrument. This
would normally be a routine repair of very minor proportions, but in this
case efforts to blend the repair left a small amount of discoloration in the
binding. It appears as a darker section, less than a centimeter across and
about 2mm tall. I have not been able to get a photograph that shows it very
well, but would be glad to email you what I have. On the whole, the binding
variation looks very minor, and would easily be mistaken for natural and expected
variations in the wood.
This guitar is a meaty dreadnought - it gives out as much as you're willing
to lay into it. It's life so far is a short one, basically going from the
Breedlove production floor to the Breedlove showroom wall, so with a little
love, this guitar is going to open up nicely. Be the one to give it the love
it needs!
