Here's an excellent guitar in the 000 size from Martin's Vintage Series
- the Martin OM-28V. Solid Sitka Spruce on top, solid East Indian Rosewood
on the back and sides, and grained Ivoroid binding on the body combine to
give this guitar the classic looks of the prewar OM. Additional appointments
include HD Zig Zag back purfling, a bold Herringbone top inlay, and a style
28 rosette. The neck is solid Mahogany, shaped to a modified V profile,
and the solid Ebony fingerboard has the Diamonds/Squares short pattern on
frets five through nine. Tuners are Gotoh Nickel Open Geared w/ Butterbean
Knobs.
The original owner of this instrument acquired it at the Winfield Competition
in Missouri in 2001. A Martin Factory Representative brought the OM-28V
to Winfield (this guitar was hand-picked for that trip based on its tonal
qualities), and two different competitors played it during the competition.
Mr. Original Owner heard the guitar, played it, fell in love with it and
bought it. He used it only in the studio, not out on gigs, and he is a fingerstyle
player so there are no pick scratches to be found on it. He had a b-band
soundboard transducer and an A-2 preamp installed, but only the endpin hole
was reamed for the jack; no controls were drilled into the body, and the
original sound was not affected. Other than that, the guitar is completely
stock.
This instrument has a 25.4'' scale. Fretboard width is 1 3/4'' at the nut,
2 1/4'' at the 12th fret. 2 5/16'' string spacing at the saddle.
